Two police officers were arrested after an ATM robbery, in the possession of millions of Ksh 72 million from Kenya (about N254 million).
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DNI, the two police officers identified as Agent Chris Ayienda Machogu and Agent Vincent Owuor were identified after being involved in a robbery at an ATM and were found in possession of Ksh 72 million from Kenya ( about N254 million).
The two policemen planned to flee to Uganda with the money earned from the theft of ATMs before being arrested. 4 million Ksh have been recovered by agent Chris Ayienda Machogu, while 3 million have been recovered from the house of Kendu Bay, agent Vincent Owuor of the administrative police.
Officer Chris Ayienda Machogu, an AP officer, was arrested today by SCPU Detectives & Ksh. 4M recovered from him. After interrogation, agent Vincent Owour, a KP officer, took the detectives to his accomplice, whose home in Kendu Bay Ksh. 3M and a Subaru Forester have been recovered.
In the initial investigations, investigators determined that (which was also confirmed by the suspects’ testimony), the motor vehicle was purchased the same day the robbery at an ATM occurred, using the stolen money.
The two planned to flee to Uganda with cash. Now in legal custody and assistance in future investigations.
