Dubbed ‘Jesu ni Mwathani’, the song is a thanksgiving track in which the Sailors gang are grateful to God for everything they have been able to achieve thus far.
Apparently, it was the group’s manager, Mwalim Rachel, who challenged the boys to create a song thanking God.
“A certain evening during a studio session with @sailors_254, I posed a challenge to them and asked them why haven’t they recorded a song thanking God for the far he has brought them. The guys are a prayerful bunch and I knew they could cook something up. They responded loud and clear with this track, Jesu ni Mwathani,” said the NRG radio presenter.
The song’s timely release on Tuesday comes days after the ‘Wamlambez’ hitmakers scooped four awards in the just concluded Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVA).
They took home the New Wave of the Year with the song ‘Wainame’, Best Group of the year with the song ‘Pekejeng’, Viewers Choice of the year with ‘Wamlambez’ and Best Collaboration of the year with song ‘Wakiritho’ which features Octopizzo.
“We have seen God’s favour with our songs going global and winning 4 awards in just 6 months. This is our song of thanksgiving and praise. God ametutoa far na ni far atatupeleka. Aminia in your life as well! Jesu Ni Mwathani,” Sailors said.
“This is for all vijanaa na ngeus wa mtaani wenye wanahustle hard to make something out of their lives. Keep the faith and rejoice in the Lord always. Your time is coming 🙏🏽”
